People are the
greatest asset any organization can have, and the Greater Dallas Chamber's membership
roster boasts some of the nation's top talent. Each month, The Chamber Report
profiles some of the Chamber's most dedicated volunteers - the board of directors
- sharing their corporate pathways to success.
This month we are
proud to feature Norman Bagwell of Bank One, Cynthia Comparin of Animato Technologies,
and Cedric Tung of IOSC.
Norman
Bagwell
President
Bank One Dallas
Norm Bagwell assumed
the role of president of Bank One, Dallas with the merger of Bank One Corporation
and First Chicago NBD in October 1998. He joined Bank One, Dallas predecessor
MBank Dallas in 1985.
Prior to this appointment,
Bagwell managed the Dallas Corporate Banking Division from 1995-1998. This division
managed the commercial banking needs for companies with sales in excess of $5MM.
He also spent 10 years in the Mortgage Finance Group serving as manager from
1992-1995. Under Bagwell's direction, the Mortgage Finance Group of Bank One
became known nationally as one of the premier lenders to the mortgage banking
industry.
He currently serves
as chairman of the Finance Committee for the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce
and is vice chairman of the Dallas Arboretum. Bagwell is a member of the Executive
Committee of the Dallas Arboretum, the Executive Committee of the Greater Dallas
Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Board of Directors of the Dallas Arboretum,
the Board of Directors of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, the Associate
Board of the SMU Cox School of Business and the Advisory Board of the Junior
League of Dallas. In addition, he is an active member of the Salesmanship Club
of Dallas, the Dallas Chapter of YPO and the Dallas Assembly.
Bagwell is a graduate
of Southern Methodist University, where he received a B.B.A. in Accounting and
a B.A. in History.
Cynthia
Comparin
President & CEO
Animato Technologies Corp.
As Animato's president
and chief executive officer, Cynthia J. Comparin founded the company in 1997
and contributes her success to her willingness to explore new ideas and challenge
old methods and to her commitment to finding new ways to solve problems..
Recognized as one
of the leading entrepreneurs in the southwestern United States by Ernst & Young,
Comparin was named a Finalist in the 2001 Entrepreneur of the Year awards. The
program honors business leaders who have created and maintained successful enterprises
through their resourcefulness, hard work and resolve. Animato also has been
named one of the fastest-growing "high-tech" firms in the 11-county, Dallas-Fort
Worth Metroplex for the past two years by the Dallas Business Journal.
Prior to establishing
Animato, Comparin was president of ALLTEL's Enterprise Network Services Division,
a group she founded to provide consulting, integration and operations services
to customers worldwide. She also served as vice president and general manager
for Nortel's Network Transformation Services Division, providing consulting,
project implementation and ongoing services to Fortune 1000 companies on a global
basis.
Previously, Comparin
was general manager for the Latin American division of Recognition International,
a global technology company. Here she developed and implemented the company's
Latin American business plan, including developing and managing distribution
channels.
Before joining
Recognition International, she spent 10 years in both international- and U.S.-based
management positions at EDS. She began her career as a financial analyst for
LTV Aerospace and Defense Company.
Comparin earned
a bachelor's degree in finance from The University of Texas at Austin and has
completed management programs at The Wharton School of Business and Harvard
University. She also has been active in important community organizations, serving
on the board of directors of such organizations as Parkland Hospital, Big Brothers
Big Sisters and Girl Scouts Tejas Council.
Comparin also is
an active member of the Greater Dallas Chamber Executive Women's Roundtable
Steering Committee, Leadership America, Women in Technology International and
the State of Texas Science and Technology Council.
Cedric
Tung
President/Founder
Integrated Office Systems Corp.
Cedric Tung is
president and founder of Integrated Office Systems Corporation (IOSC), a leading
computer networking and web/application development company in the DFW area.
Tung started the
company in 1989 to assist clients in automating their business process through
the use of computer systems. The company started as a software development company
but soon developed a computer networking division to provide full end-to-end
support. "Our goal is to be the IS Department for small to mid-size companies"
says Cedric Tung. Recent development projects include the re-design of the Greater
Dallas Chamber's website, a Move Management web application to assist in the
Sabre and EDS movement of employees, and an XML inventory management system
for Homebuilder.com.
Tung graduated
from St. Marks School in 1979 and completed his Bachelors of Science Degree
in Electrical Engineer from University of Texas at Austin in 1984. His career
began with Trammell Crow as an application programmer, and he subsequently has
worked for UTL as a test engineer for Electronic Intelligence systems, IBM's
RS6000 AIX test team in Austin, and NEC America's Research Team for high speed
database systems for Cellular Application.
Cedric currently
serves on the Board of the Greater Dallas Chamber and was recently elected to
serve as the chair of the Chamber's Small & Mid-Size Business Council during
2002. He attends Prestonwood Baptist Church and serves on the local board as
a DFW Key Couple in the Growing Families International parenting ministry.
Cedric Tung and
his wife Kathy have 3 boys ranging from 2 to 7 years of age.
