As businesses and
the region continue to grow, it is essential to provide the necessary tools
for successful progress. The Greater Dallas Chamber, in conjunction with many
local organizations, is introducing a new method to aid financial development
in the region.
The "Access to
Capital" initiative is a joint effort of the American Indian Chamber, Dallas
Black Chamber, Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber, Greater Dallas Chamber,
Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber, D/FW Minority Business Development Council,
and Women's Business Council Southwest. The goal is to provide business owners
with the most recent information available concerning the loan process. The
participating organizations met with several financial institutions and consulted
various business owners in an effort to create an informative and efficient
guidebook.
This guidebook
is a resource to help business owners prior to their first contact with a banking
institution. An executive summary highlights the purpose of the initiative.
Readers will also find a sample loan questionnaire, cash flow statement and
debt schedule that may be studied when compiling their respective business information.
Other advisory resources (SDDC, SCORE, Acción and the D/FW Minority Business
Development Center) are listed as alternatives to lending or counsel. Another
addition coming soon is information on involved banking institutions.
The packet is currently
available in print at the Greater Dallas Chamber and can be requested online
at www.dallaschamber.org (Programs,
Minority Business Development). Once a member has received the packet, he or
she may seek advice from volunteers working with the various organizations.
Please contact 214-746-6648 to schedule an appointment with an advisor.
The information
contained in the guidebook is intended as a general resource guide to the loan
process. We hope that our members will find this guide useful and informative.
