Mystified by the
latest twists in the economy? Then mark September 5 on your calendar for the
Chamber's Economic Forum. This half-day program features panel discussions on
the economy topped off by a luncheon keynote from Robert McTeer, the president
and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
The 2002 Economic
Forum, titled "Business Issues & the Economy" will be Thursday, September
5 at the DoubleTree at Lincoln Centre, 5410 LBJ Freeway. The program runs from
8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The title sponsor for this exciting event is Alliance Data

The Economic Forum
serves to inform the business community on pertinent business issues and engage
leaders for discussion and analysis of the progression of the economy. The event
also provides an opportunity for the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of
Dallas, Robert McTeer, to discuss the economic environment.
The forum begins
with three sequential morning panels that will address current business concerns
facing the Dallas business community. Topics this year include:
- A segment on
the market featuring David Johnson, Business Analysis for WFAA, KRLD, Marketplace
Radio, Texas Cable News and Texas State Network
- A look at how
to interpret certain economic indicators and their effect on business with
Bud Weinstein, director of the Center for Economic Development and Research
and a professor of applied economics at the University of North Texas.
- Industry specific
analysis

To conclude the
morning's events, the president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas
Robert McTeer will address the audience during the luncheon.
Robert D. McTeer,
Jr. became president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas on February 1, 1991.
Under his leadership, the Dallas Fed has become the Federal Reserve System's
window to Mexico and the rest of Latin America.
McTeer's speeches
and published work have given him a reputation for translating economic sense
into common sense. Many of his writings can be found on the Bank's website:
www.dallasfed.org.
As president and
CEO of the Dallas Fed, McTeer is a member of the Federal Open Market Committee,
the Fed's principal monetary policy-making body. The FOMC meets every six weeks
to determine monetary policy for the coming period.
McTeer came to
the Dallas Fed from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, where he headed its
Baltimore Branch. Bob received his B.B.A. and Ph.D. in economics from the University
of Georgia.
