Apply for Leadership Dallas now

The Greater Dallas Chamber is accepting applications for the Leadership Dallas Class of 2004. The deadline for submitting applications is May 30.

To receive an application or for more information, please email Lucinda Summerlin at lsummerlin@dallaschamber.org or call 214-746-6746.

Leadership Dallas, which began in 1975, is a leadership development program aimed at increasing the leadership pool for community activities in the Dallas area. Each year, approximately 50 people are selected to participate in the program, which begins in September and ends in June the following year. The selection committee seeks diversity in age, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic factors and business. Candidates should exhibit an interest in civic involvement and have a history of voluntary leadership.

During the 10-month program, participants receive an in-depth education on critical issues in the community, including criminal justice, education, government and politics, as well as a history of the area, health care, and human services.

Graduates of the program include former Mayor Ron Kirk, Police Chief Terrell Bolton, City Manager Ted Benavides, State Representatives Helen Giddings and Terri Hodge, former U.S. Attorney Paul Coggins, civic and business leaders Liz Minyard, Tom Baker, Ken Menges, and many more. Since 1975, its first year, Leadership Dallas has graduated more than 1,300 men and women who continue to provide leadership in the region.
