Secrets to getting news coverage

Do you have a great idea for a story, but no clue how to get it in the news? Are you tired of pitching press releases the news media simply ignores?

Come to the Greater Dallas Chamber's breakfast featuring Jeff Crilley on September 3 from 8-9 a.m. at the Center for Community Cooperation, 2900 Live Oak. Learn firsthand how to write a great press release, what to say on the phone to a reporter, and how to stage an event the media will love, as well as other great tips.

Advance registration is required.  For more information please contact Brandon Gallop Rice at brice@dallaschamber.org or register online at www.dallaschamber.org.

After 20 years as a TV reporter, Jeff Crilley has a scoop for you: the media needs good stories. But most stories are pitched so poorly, they are lost in the blizzard of faxes that blanket every newsroom.

Jeff Crilley, an Emmy Award winning TV reporter in Dallas,  has appeared on hundreds of national news programs: CNN Headline News, FOX News, The Discovery Channel, Good Morning America and The CBS Early Show.

As a general assignment reporter, he covers topics from presidential elections to Spam cooking contests at the State Fair. His day-to-day news gathering experience has given him special insight into what the news covers and why.

A book signing will follow the program.
