Economic forum to look at energy, politics, labor

Hear what the experts have to say about the current and future state of the Dallas/Fort Worth economy at the Chamber’s2004 Economic Forum: Business Issues and the Economy.

 

The sixth annual forum, scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 7 at the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Centre, informs the community on pertinent business issues and engages leaders to discuss and analyze the economy.

 

The forum begins with sequential morning panels and presentations that will address current Dallas business community concerns:

--Energy Prices and Business in Texas
--Politics, Policy and Private Markets

--Labor Markets – Offshoring, Outsourcing and Labor Outlook

 


Speakers include:

--   Mike Davis, economist - Cox School of Business, SMU 

--   Don Hicks, professor of Political Economy and Public Policy, University of Texas Dallas 

--   Lester Keliher, senior vice president and manager, DFW Wells Fargo Energy Group

--   Laurie Larrea, president, Worksource for Dallas County 

--   Tom Leppert, chairman and CEO, The Turner Corporation 

--   Phil Ritter, senior vice president, Texas Instruments 

--   Tom Siems, senior economist and policy advisor, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas 

--   John Ward, vice president of international business development, Lockheed Martin 

--   Bernard "Bud" Weinstein, director for the Center for Economic Research, UNT 

--   Mine K. Yucel, vice president and senior economist, Dallas Federal Reserve Bank 
  

Robert D. McTeer, Jr., president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, will address the audience during the noon luncheon. Mr. McTeer's speeches and published work have given him a reputation for translating economic sense into common sense.
