Chamber helps anchor nonprofit tech conference

Chamber members and staff provided panelists and volunteers for the first Ready…Tech…Go! Conference, designed to educate nonprofits about effective technology solutions that will help support their missions.

Panelists at the conference included Doug Nies, vice president and CIO of Turner Corp.; and Kevin Wheeler, CEO & CTO of InfoDefense, both members of the Greater Dallas Chamber’s Technology Business Council, who discussed protection measures to safeguard organizations.

The Chamber’s Technology Business Department served on the steering committee and provided volunteers for the event. Over 100 people attended, representing about 80 nonprofit agencies from the Dallas area.

Participants attended interactive panel discussions, breakout sessions and vendor demonstrations that showcased technology tools and provided information on leveraging funding and resources to achieve their goals.

“We felt it was important to provide agencies with an educational platform to learn about the IT solutions available and how to assess and implement them,” said, Hedy Helsell, president of the Center for Nonprofit Management. “Our first Ready…Tech…Go! Conference offered Dallas nonprofits a wonderful opportunity to connect with vendors, gain exposure and share ideas with other organizations in the area, and we look forward to presenting the event again next year.”

The Center for Nonprofit Management plans to host the event again in March 2005 at the Infomart Dallas. This year’s conference was presented by Microsoft and co-sponsored by IBM, Citigroup, and the Infomart Dallas.
