Chamber salutes Bank of America - September's "Clean Air Hero."

The Chamber is pleased to recognize this month's "Clean Air Hero" - Bank of America, one of the largest employers in the Metroplex.  By actively promoting clean air programs, Bank of America is making a significant contribution to North Texas' air quality.

Clean air initiatives are promoted by the bank's Environmental Network, which is part of "Team Bank of America," a volunteer group of bank employees that promotes responsible living. The Environmental Network organizes programs such as clean air initiatives, recycling and cleanup efforts, and the annual White Rock Cleanup.

Bank of America offers DART passes to more than 7,000 employees and also underwrites vanpools which eliminate hundreds of commuter trips every week.  The bank's teleworking program allows several hundred employees to leave their cars in the garage for at least some of the days in Ozone Season.  Each month, the bank newsletter carries information on air quality issues and educates employees on ways to make a difference in our regional air.

"With so many employees, we feel that it is imperative to promote programs that improve our region's quality of life," stated Kathleen Gibson, president of Bank of America Dallas and a member of the Chamber's Board of Directors.  "Team Bank of America's Environmental Network is a valuable resource that organizes and promotes our environmental programs, allowing us to make a difference in our area's air quality."

Congratulations to Bank of America for its positive approaches to North Texas' air quality issues. For information on the Chamber's air quality programs or to let us know about your company's efforts to improve our environment, contact Esther Gebhardt at 214-746-6612 or egebhardt@dallaschamber.org.
