More than 800 top students from the Dallas region will converge on SMU, UTD and Richland College this summer  for six weeks of intense study in math, science and engineering.

Drawn from area middle schools and high schools, the students have the potential to be the first college graduates in their families.  The program prepares them for more demanding math and science courses in high school and college.

Teenagers often don’t see the relevance that math and science have in the real world. But the region’s top high school and college teachers in math, science and engineering want to bridge this gap and better prepare them for rigorous high school and college courses.

Over 80 college mentors will help students with a customized curriculum. Participants will be immersed in a college environment, learn what it takes to succeed in college--and eating dorm food!  Parents will have an opportunity to attend an awards night and see students’ design projects.

Sponsors of the program include the DFW Semiconductor Executive Council, the Greater Dallas Chamber, WorkSource for Dallas County, SMU, UTD, Richland College, and a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission.
