DISD chief will brief Chamber on schools' vision

Dr. Michael Hinojosa, general superintendent of DISD, will address "Great Expectations for DISD" at the Chamber's annual State of the District Luncheon Sept. 20. The program will update the business community on the district's affairs.

This luncheon will be on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Adam's Mark Hotel, 400 North Olive St., in the Houston Ballroom.  Tickets are $45 for Chamber members and $65 for prospective members.

The event, sponsored by Texas Instruments, will highlight local schools' national ranking, business involvement in the success of DISD, and future goals and challenges. The luncheon is also the Chamber's third quarter membership meeting.

The Dallas Independent School District is the twelfth largest in the nation, with an enrollment of about 161,000.  Dr. Hinojosa was appointed superintendent in April.  A native of Dallas, he previously served as superintendent of Spring ISD in Houston.  This luncheon will be Dr. Hinojosa's first address to the Chamber.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information, contact Julie Tanner at 214-746-6741 or education@dallaschamber.org. Visit www.dallaschamber.org/calendar.html to register.
