Seoul searching: on a mission to Korea

To develop its DFW-Korea initiative, the Greater Dallas Chamber conducted an investment mission to South Korea on Feb 27-March 12 in partnership with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency.

The trip increased the visibility of DFW in Korea and promoted business cooperation and investment.  Given the importance of DFW trade with Korea, the business mission was a prime opportunity to develop new business contacts and ventures.

While in Korea, the Dallas delegation met with Korean businesses in the greater Seoul region (Wow Technologies, Abetterway Corporation, TI Korea, the Seoul Business Agency and SeongNam Industry Promotion) to explore opportunities for business development and cooperation. Chamber staff met with representatives of the Korea RFID Association and the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association.

South Korea generates $8.5 billion in  annual trade with Texas, and North Texas accounts for nearly 50 percent of that amount.

Top  import/export commodities with DFW include electronic machinery, vehicles; nuclear reactors and boilers; miscellaneous chemical products; and optic, photo, and medical instruments.

For more information on the Chamber’s Korea initiatives or involvement opportunities, contact Dagmar Fleming at 214-712-1901 or dfleming@dallaschamber.org.
