Chamber forges business links between India and North Texas

The Chamber’s International Business Council traveled to India last month to foster collaborative relationships with technology companies and academic institutions. The Chamber partnered with the U.S. Department of Commerce on the mission.

The International Business Council (IBC) and the India Task Force, completed its successful mission to India April 7-11. As part of ongoing promotion of foreign direct investment in North Texas, Chamber representatives visited New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai.

Partnering with the U.S. Department of Commerce, the mission fostered collaborative relationships with technology companies and academic institutions to develop foreign direct investment opportunities and raise DFW’s visibility with Indian businesses.

The mission included roundtable briefings with United State Education Foundation in India (USEFI), consular officers and commercial service officers. Student fairs in each city promoted the University of North Texas, University of Texas at Arlington, University of Houston, and Mary-Hardin Baylor.

The Chamber presented at a Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) reception in New Delhi and conducted an Invest-in-DFW presentation at a technology business roundtable in Bangalore. Attending the business roundtable were executives from IBM, Yahoo, AOL, EDS and other local business leaders.
