UT-Dallas chess team repeats as U.S., Western Hemisphere champs
For the second year in a row, the University of Texas at Dallas has won the Intercollegiate Chess Championship of the Final Four. UT-Dallas beat its long-time rival, the University of Maryland Baltimore County. UT-Dallas is the only university to hold the top two college titles, the U.S. and the Western Hemisphere, for two consecutive years.
Spectators included David Daniel, UT-Dallas president and chair of the Chamber’s University CEO Council. The team won the tournament, 9.5-2.5.
