The Dallas/ Fort Worth region’s strengths in international business abound. One key component of DFW’s international strength is the Dallas/Fort Worth Consular Corps, comprised of foreign consulate and trade offices. The Consular Corps provides unique direct access to high-level foreign dignitaries and business contacts.
The Dallas Regional Chamber recently hosted U.S. Ambassador to Spain Eduardo Aguirre and a delegation of 20 Spanish companies with the goal of promoting Spanish investment in Texas and develop joint ventures and technology exchanges.

Janet Kafka, Honorary Consul of Spain in Dallas, was instrumental in bringing together nearly 150 participants along with the State of Texas Governor Rick Perry. Ms. Kafka is the current dean of the DFW Consular Corps and an active proponent of U.S.-Spain relations.
As a result of the Spanish delegation’s visit to DFW, investment projects are beginning to take shape in North Texas:
--a proposed lease-to-purchase deal of up to 100,000 acres of land for a renewable energy project which could create 30-60 jobs initially
--a possible relocation for an environmental construction/building supply company’s corporate headquarters into North Texas, creating 10 plus jobs and bringing sizable capital investment into the region.
Sponsoring the Spanish delegation’s visit were: Chiang, Patel & Yerby; Godwin, Pappas & Ronquillo; Hudspeth & Associates; and Janet Kafka & Associates.
