New consuls from Mexico, U.K. arrive in DFW
The Metroplex welcomes two new foreign dignitaries-- Michael Morley, Her Majesty’s Consul of the United Kingdom, and Carlos Garcia de Alba Jr., Consul General of Mexico—who will support inbound investment inquiries and trade development into their own countries from U.S. businesses.

Chamber named among top economic development groups
The Greater Dallas Chamber has been named one of the top economic development groups in the nation by leading industry publication Site Selection Magazine. The Chamber was honored for its corporate recruiting success in the 12-county Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. Through the Chamber's efforts, 5,994 direct jobs and more than 18,000 direct and indirect jobs were added to the Metroplex in 2003 with a capital investment of over $3.367 billion.

Mission to China leads to virtual office for DFW
As a result of its trade and investment mission to Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen in April the Chamber has established its second virtual office at the Shanghai offices of Jones Day.

DFW’s employment up; local economy improving
New employment data for Dallas/Fort Worth released earlier this month by the Texas Workforce Commission support the growing confidence among local business leaders. DFW, one of the most severely impacted regional economies in the recent recession, no longer lags the state on key indicators, and is gaining ground in terms of national performance.

Tenet Healthcare chooses Dallas for headquarters
Tenet Healthcare Corp. will relocate its headquarters from Santa Barbara, California, to Dallas. This relocation, announced in early May, will add 100 jobs to the Dallas economy. Tenet will relocate to 13737 Noel Road in Dallas.

Business leaders confident DFW economy is improving
Approximately 70 percent of all companies responding to the Spring 2004 DFW Monitor, a business confidence survey conducted by the Greater Dallas Chamber, believe that business conditions have improved over the last six months both within their industries and in the larger DFW economy. Three-fourths (75 percent) of the responding business leaders also expect conditions to continue to improve over the next six months.
