DFW on track with regional innovation center
The Alliance for Higher Education (AHE) is pleased to announce that Governor Perry's Emerging Technology Advisory Committee has accepted North Texas region's proposal to form the North Texas Regional Center for Innovation and Commercialization (RCIC). This proposal, while developed around the long-standing, regional non-profit AHE organization, was broadly supported by a coalition of educational, economic development and other organizations from across the region. The Greater Dallas, Fort Worth and Arlington Chambers were among those active in this group.

BusinessPlace to feature new products, top speakers

State legislators to outline newest healthcare reforms
The regular session of the 79th Texas Legislature saw several changes in healthcare policy.
Lawmakers partially restored funding for the Children's Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) to include dental, vision, hospice, and mental health benefits. CHIP also received additional money for enrollment.

An estimated 60,000 people poured into Fair Park on Aug. 11 to receive school supplies, haircuts and dental exams. The Mayor's Back to School Fair, a one-stop shop for economically disadvantaged children and families who live in Dallas, provides the resources necessary to begin the school year successfully.
