DFW Becomes 5th Dominant Metro for Fortune 500 Headquarters

The 2006 Fortune 500 list was released and included 22 companies from the Dallas/Fort Worth area, 17 of which are Greater Dallas Chamber members.  With net gains of four comapnies, DFW moved from 6th to 5th place in its ranking among US Metros for Fortune 500 headquarters.  With DFW's gains, Texas has now displaced California as the only state with two regions in top five Fortune 500 metros.  Houston ranked fourth with Chicago, New York and San Francisco rounding out the other top five metros.
