Korean ambassador to discuss trade deal at luncheon December 12
"With so many unresolved issues ... time is not on our side," said His Excellency Lee Tae-sik, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the U.S., commenting on the negotiations of a proposed free trade agreement between the two countries. Speaking at the Heritage Foundation last month, Ambassador Lee added, "Our negotiations are now at a critical stage."

How to protect intellectual property? Patent office speaker has answers
Stephen M. Pinkos, deputy director of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, will discuss the patent and trademark processes and ways to protect intellectual property at a Chamber luncheon this month. Pinkos will address the Dallas/Fort Worth business community on the current state of the U. S. Patent & Trademark Office and issues affecting those with a stake in protecting their intellectual property.

Dallas anti-graffiti team honored for keeping America beautiful
The Leadership Dallas Class of 2006 partnered with government and business earlier this year to stage the largest graffiti wipeout event in Dallas history. The effort was recognized recently with a national award for beautification.

It's About Our Community effort puts Dallas ISD students to work
State Sen. Royce West's initiative, "It's About Our Community," challenges the business community to provide six weeks of job opportunities, such as internships, for high school students with documentation of continual improvement regarding academic achievement, behavior in school, and citizenship in the community.

In a recent article released by the Metro Atlanta Chamber, Atlanta has increased the size of it's young, highly-educated demographic by 46 percent...far more than any other area in the country. The demand for this new talent in an ever-increasing competition for a qualified workforce has led cities to evaluate what draws this group in. Factors such as cost of living, job opportunities, and community involvement top the list - all of which the Dallas metro excels.

Economist Perryman foresees strong growth for DFW region
Economist Dr. Ray Perryman expects strong growth and healthy expansion in a variety of industries in the DFW economy, ranging from export-related manufacturing to financial services, with real gross product rising by 4.4 percent annually to $386 billion in 2011.
